Jamie Holt is a Los Angeles based director, writer and producer. She got her first taste of directing in the third grade when she adapted the Polish folktale “Prot and Krot” into a one-woman show for the school assembly... which may have gone a bit over her young audience’s head. In the two decades since, she has worked on projects from LA to New York to London, including associate producing the film Miss You Already, starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette.
Jamie has written and directed five short films and four music videos with 6 Million+ combined views, as well as the #1 American Music Kickstarter Campaign of 2016. She produced and directed seven innovative promotional pieces for the Snapchat and ABC Digital original series Watch Party: The Bachelor. She also produced the noteworthy music video for Lady Gaga’s Emmy-winning, Oscar- and Grammy-nominated single, “Til It Happens to You.” The press hailed it as “the most important music video of the year.” The Filth series marks Jamie’s feature-length directorial debut.
Jamie’s experience also includes working as the assistant to two distinguished directors: Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen) and Justin Simien, the creator of Netflix’s acclaimed series, Dear White People. In this latter role, she served as Assistant to the Showrunner on Season 2 of the show and was instrumental in the development of Simien’s upcoming horror satire, Bad Hair.
Jamie holds an MFA in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and a BA in Screenwriting and an Honors Degree in Media Writing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. In 2017, Jamie was named the UNCG Department of Media Studies Alumnus of the Year.
